In this class we will investigate ways to tell abstract stories with our body. By working on images, ghosts and vibrations, we build figures, stories, and create narratives that move between our normal reality and the “other,”
“In my work I always look for “gates” to other realities. These exist in cracks our everyday life, in objects, unexpected encounters, myths, smells, dreams, memories and so much more. In dance we make our bodies into such openings, by letting them communicate our presence and imagination.”

Sonja Salkowitsch is a performer within physical theatre and butoh. She lives in Norway, where she runs the company PLUSKVAMPERFEKTUM together with her brother. Sonja's work is a mix of different genres, combining butoh with characterwork and interactive, site related settings. The substance usually derives from the
mystical side of our existence, the space between dream and reality, and the experienced life in the outskirts of Norway, fuelled by dark winters, endless boredom, ghosts and myths. Her main influence in butoh, come from Yumiko Yoshioka, Kitt Johnson, Tadashi Endo and Sayoko Onishi.
