Dance: Rosa Anima

TRASH is a butoh inspired solo performance about what we value, embracing aesthetics, materials and genres that are sometimes labeled as trashy in the art world. Plastic, kitch, trash metal, wrestling, horror movies, has-beens, girly and glittery things, melodrama, you name it.

TRASH is not ironic or cool; it appreciates the beauty of mundane everyday items, of pop culture and ‘trashy’ things, and of people - including the artist herself - who love them, without ignoring that everything has a darker side. It’s not that deep. Or is it? Welcome to join the chaotic shiny dark meditation that is TRASH!

Rosa Anima (Rosa Rantanen) is a Helsinki-based dancer, musician and scholar who is currently interested in working with masks, improvisation, folk traditions and rituals. Her 30 years of experience in different dance and movement styles includes e.g. modern/contemporary dance, jazz, capoeira, afro contemporary and more recently flamenco. She practices butoh with Ken Mai in Helsinki and has taken courses with such butoh teachers as Seisaku, Yuri Nagaoka, Yuko Kaseki and Shinichi Iova-Koga.
